Yesterday we took a group of visiting women to Petra, one of the most amazing sites on earth. It truly is breathtaking. I always wonder just how the Nabateans accomplished something so amazing. They had no cranes, no power tools, and yet their creation has withstood the test of time. It is a marvel.

I love fall. It’s my absolute favorite season. I love the crisp air, bonfires, and warm tea. But most of all, I love the colors. I will never be able to capture the beauty of the leaves from the tops of Bear’s Den trail or in Shenandoah National Park. It’s too wonderful for mere words.
And I live in the desert.
I live in the Middle East. I have for awhile now. I spent part of that time studying Arabic at the University of Damascus. In Syria.
So what I see on the news affects me. Deeply. Permanently. It’s a little surreal when you see neighborhoods you frequented on CNN. In a pile of rubble.
And I get asked what I think of the impending military strike on Syria.
